Recycling: because who doesn't love a second chance?

Don't Toss it, use it

Are you tired of throwing away things that still have potential? Feel guilty about contributing to the world's waste problem? Take action and start reusing, repurposing, and upcycling! It's not only eco-friendly but also a great way to save money while also helping others with their creative DIY projects. The saying goes, one person's garbage is another's treasure. What you may not use can be used by someone else.

Start by identifying items that can be repurposed or upcycled around your home. Have an old T-shirt you don't wear? Cut, DIY, and make it into a reusable shopping bag from it. Imagination is limitless!

If you don't craft, instead of throwing your items away, bless them. There's this place where you can give away some weird and wonderful items useful to other people such as artists, theatre companies, or other creatives.

This Facebook group: 𝑨𝒓𝒕 𝑫𝒐𝒏'𝒕 𝑻𝒉𝒓𝒐𝒘 was set up by Admin Lin Shiyun who is the creative director of 3pumpkins. Her goal is to encourage resource sharing between artists and arts groups in Singapore. Shiyun is aided by two other admins for this community and is a great cause!

3Pumpkins is a socially-engaged arts organization set up as a non-profit (CLG) entity in 2019. They specialize in relational work, creating opportunities to strengthen human connections, especially for vulnerable communities.

Although Art Don't Throw Facebook Group didn't start up as a group specifically for low-income families. There are items that have been blessed by users that are geared toward that group of people. As long as you're offering it as a blessing, you are welcome to post any items in this Facebook group.

Blessing can be done with anything, not just items from home. If you are tearing down an exhibition and want to dispose of materials that someone may find useful, or you are creating work and in need of materials, this is the place to look. However, do note that Plastic bottles, plastic bags, and other daily discards are no longer allowed in the group.

Creating something new from something old is like magic. By recycling, we reduce landfill waste and ocean pollution. Creating a second life for plastic bottles, papers, and cardboard. The environment isn't the only reason to recycle. Furthermore, it helps conserve trees, oil, and water. Our carbon footprint can be reduced by reusing these materials.

Recycling isn't enough; We need to reuse and repurpose. Donate or turn old clothes into rags instead of throwing them away. Restoring old furniture or shopping at thrift stores is cheaper than buying new. We save even more resources by repurposing and reusing. So let's do our part, let's start recycling, repurposing, and reusing - for the environment, for our future, and for the magic of it all. Get creative when it comes to items you want to toss.  I hope you enjoy this post and let's save the Earth together!
